چکیده

Two new tetrametallic lanthanide-phosphonate complexes have been structurally and magnetically characterised. The {Dy4} complex is a single molecule magnet.

Employment of triketones to construct a dysprosium(III) single-molecule magnet.

The initial employment of a triketone ligand in 4f coordination chemistry afforded a series of dinuclear complexes. Magnetic studies revealed that an antiferromagnetic interaction exists in a digadolinium(III) compound, while a dysprosium(III) constructed complex exhibits single-molecule magnet (SMM) behaviour at low temperatures with an energy barrier of 86.8 K.

Single-molecule magnet behaviour in polynuclear assembly of trivalent cerium ions with polyoxomolybdates.

An isopolyoxomolybdate-based POM is coordinated to trivalent cerium ions to afford a hybrid complex namely, [Ce(dmso)8][Ce(η2-NO3)2(dmso)4(α-Mo8O26)0.5][Mo6O19]. The original electrostatic environment created around the Ce(III) by its coordination to the isopolyoxomolybdate core induces complex single-molecule magnet behavior.

Hetero-tetra-metallic species based on hexanuclear assemblies [((valen)M1)Ln(OH2)2(μM2(CN)8)]2(2-) (Ln = Gd(III), Tb(III); M1 = Cu(II), Ni(II) and M2 = Mo(IV), W(IV)) and co-crystallized mononuclear complexes [M3(tpy)2](2+) (M3 = Ni(II), Ru(II), Os(II)) were identified, fully characterized, and shown to constitute a new class of single-molecule magnets.
